Los Angeles Unified Teams Up with the Los Angeles Rams and Hollywood Park to Offer Vaccination Site For All School Staff in Los Angeles County

·       Seeks County Approval to Begin Operating as Soon as Possible

·       Coordinated Vaccination of School Staff Would Accelerate Reopening of Schools

·       Inglewood Site Would Have Capacity to Vaccinate up to 10,000+ People a Day

LOS ANGELES (February 17, 2021) – Los Angeles Unified today announced a collaboration with the Los Angeles Rams, Hollywood Park and the City of Inglewood to operate a large-scale vaccination site on the grounds of SoFi Stadium which could serve any of the public and private school teachers, administrators and staff in Los Angeles County from schools that wish to participate.

Los Angeles Unified plans to work closely with Los Angeles County on this program. On February 15, Los Angeles Unified and its partners, including Anthem Blue Cross and Cedars-Sinai, sent a letter to County Department of Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer and Los Angeles County Office of Education Superintendent Dr. Debra Duardo seeking authorization to operate the site and help the more than 1 million students and tens of thousands of teachers and staff in Los Angeles County return to school safely.

“Returning students, teachers and staff to campus in the safest way possible is essential to the well-being of our entire community,” said Los Angeles Unified Superintendent Austin Beutner. “A bus driver takes students to school, a principal unlocks the front door, a teacher leads in the classroom, a cafeteria worker prepares lunch and a custodian keeps the school clean – they’re all connected at school. A dedicated vaccination site and comprehensive effort for the education community would allow schools to re-open sooner and in a more coordinated manner.”

“In speaking with Superintendent Beutner and Inglewood Mayor Butts about how we can best support our community during this time, it became clear that assisting schools to reopen safely would have wide-ranging impacts for all Angelenos,” said Los Angeles Rams COO Kevin Demoff. “We are grateful to all our partners who have come together to develop a game plan that would allow us to operate this vaccination site at Hollywood Park safely and efficiently and serve educators all across the county.”

“We have seen a need within our community, and we are working alongside Los Angeles Unified and its partners to provide a solution,” said Jason Gannon, managing director, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park. “We are proud to offer the space and infrastructure needed for a mass vaccination site for school staff. This is another critical step to keep Angelenos safe and healthy in our fight against COVID-19.”

Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts has committed to seek the support of the County Board of Supervisors for this effort to protect school staff and bring the children of Inglewood and Los Angeles County back to the classroom.

In accordance with its plan, 600 Los Angeles Unified school nurses and other licensed healthcare professionals would administer the vaccine and assist those who may have an adverse reaction. In addition, Anthem would provide volunteer clinical personnel to supplement the Los Angeles Unified staff and Cedars-Sinai is already providing training to support this vaccination effort. The Hollywood Park site, when fully operational, would be able to vaccinate more than 10,000 people a day.

The operation would use a technology and data system that can register individuals, schedule vaccination appointments and share the data with appropriate authorities.

“Anthem Blue Cross is proud to support Los Angeles Unified’s COVID-19 vaccination efforts and help ensure those who want to receive the vaccine can get it,” said Beth Andersen, President, Anthem Blue Cross.

“Safely reopening schools is a key step in improving our community’s physical, mental and economic health,” said Arthur J. Ochoa, JD, Chief Advancement Officer for Cedars-Sinai. “Cedars-Sinai has a long history of supporting Los Angeles Unified in its work to serve the children and families of Los Angeles and we are ready to support Los Angeles Unified in its effort to create a Super Point of Distribution so they can vaccinate school educators and staff.”

“The fact is that schools never closed for thousands of frontline education workers who have been sanitizing schools, preparing meals and running COVID-19 testing centers,” said Max Arias, SEIU Local 99 Executive Director. “Many of these essential school workers are people of color who have been hardest hit by the pandemic. The opening of this vaccination site would mark a major step forward to protect our most vulnerable communities and begin the process for an eventual safe return to in-person classes.”

Los Angeles to Host Super Bowl LVI in February 2022 at SoFi Stadium

Super Bowl Host Committee Unveils Logo & Plan to Showcase the Region

LOS ANGELES (February 9, 2021)— In one year, Los Angeles will welcome the Super Bowl to the region for the first time in nearly three decades. Super Bowl LVI will take place at SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park in Inglewood in February 2022.

Los Angeles hosted the first Super Bowl in 1967 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and the last time the game was played in Los Angeles was in 1993 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA.

Today, the Los Angeles Super Bowl Host Committee, led by Chairman Casey Wasserman, unveiled the official Los Angeles Super Bowl Host Committee logo and launch video, featuring Los Angeles icon, Snoop Dogg, alongside the NFL’s trademark Super Bowl LVI mark. All eyes will be on the greater Los Angeles region and the transformative SoFi Stadium, as NBC will televise professional sports’ most popular and watched game that will be broadcast to more than 180 countries and territories.

Wasserman unveiled the Los Angeles Host Committee’s logo, inspired by the iconic SoFi Stadium building design, and the campaign tagline “Champions Shine Here,” as a way to spotlight the spirited, authentic, and inclusive community that Los Angeles represents and kick off the decade of major events coming to the region starting with Super Bowl LVI in 2022.

“Today more than ever the Super Bowl stands for hope and perseverance,” said Casey Wasserman, Chairman, Los Angeles Super Bowl Host Committee. “We are proud and excited that Los Angeles will once again host the nation’s biggest sporting event, however it’s the promise of recovery and opportunity that Super Bowl LVI brings to our City’s people and industries that reigns supreme.”

“Since Los Angeles hosted the first Super Bowl back in 1967, the Super Bowl has become a spectacle larger than the league could have ever imagined,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. “The return of the Super Bowl to this region is in large part thanks to Stan Kroenke‘s commitment to delivering this game-changing project at Hollywood Park. We are thrilled to be partnering with the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park, the Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers to bring the nation’s biggest sporting event to Los Angeles and Inglewood for Super Bowl LVI.”

“Los Angeles is a global capital for athletic achievement — a place that understands the power of sports to unite and inspire, awe and amaze, support job creation and spur economic growth, and lift the spirits of entire communities,” said Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. “Playing host to Super Bowl LVI will allow local businesses to score critical victories for our workforce, showcase our city’s commitment to equity and inclusion, and kick off another age of positive change for Angelenos and fans everywhere.”

“SoFi Stadium in Inglewood is the finest stadium in the country and will continue to host the greatest events,” said Inglewood Mayor James Butts“The NFL is giving local diverse and minority-owned businesses a chance to compete for substantial contracts through its Business Connect program. That program will help a range of local businesses — caterers, sign makers, event producers, cleaning services, and more – compete for and win subcontracts to support the many events leading up to and surrounding the Super Bowl.”

“We are proud to host Super Bowl LVI and will work with all our partners to deliver an extraordinary and unparalleled experience next February,” said Los Angeles Rams Owner/Chairman and SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park Developer E. Stanley Kroenke.  “We ask that fans continue to do all they can to stay safe so that we can be together next year at SoFi Stadium.  Aside from the great competition and entertainment that are hallmarks of Super Bowl, we look forward to celebrating the many frontline workers who are already making this event possible through their amazing sacrifices and commitment.”

“I’ve said many times that Stan Kroenke’s vision for Hollywood Park, anchored by our iconic SoFi Stadium home, will not only redefine the City of Inglewood, it will redefine the landscape of greater Los Angeles for the next century and beyond,” said Los Angeles Chargers Owner and Chairman of the Board Dean Spanos. “In the wake of a global pandemic that isolated families, displaced businesses and changed our general way of life, this vision is no longer just about redefining a city, it’s about breathing life back into it. Super Bowl LVI won’t just be the biggest event of 2022, it will be a much-needed catalyst for our region’s recovery.”

“High-profile events like the Super Bowl will help many businesses – and its thousands of workers – get back on their feet,” said Kathryn Schloessman, Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission President & CEO. “In Southern California, this has the potential to be an enormous boost for residents who work in restaurants, hotels, event venues and related industries that have been hit especially hard by the pandemic.”

The Los Angeles Host Committee has extended the deadline for local diverse, and minority-owned businesses to apply for the Business Connect program to February 23, 2021. While Super Bowl LVI does not take place until February 2022, RFPs for sub-contracting jobs related to Super Bowl come to the LA market as soon as April 2021. It’s quick and easy to apply – to learn more about the program visit www.LASuperBowlHC.com.

Willow to Deliver Digital Twin Technology Solutions at New SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park

New Home of Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams to Implement Willow’s Digital Twin Solution to Deliver Sustainability, Efficiency and Optimized Fan Experience Through Big Data

Willow, the world’s leading provider of digital twin technology, is partnering with Hollywood Park, a new, nearly 300-acre sports and entertainment destination in Inglewood, California, being developed by Rams Owner/Chairman E. Stanley Kroenke. The agreement stretches across SoFi Stadium, which will be the first major stadium to implement digital twin technology in the U.S. Using big data gathered from every aspect of the stadium and surrounding development, Willow will create a virtual copy of the facility to deliver an unprecedented level of analytical insight to create a truly world-class fan, resident and guest experience along with optimized levels of sustainability and future-proofing.

Digital twins, first developed by NASA for space exploration, are a bleeding-edge technology that converts all quantifiable aspects of physical buildings into living, learning and evolving virtual replicas. It is the most intuitive way to store, organize and access the incredible amount of data generated by complex smart buildings, allowing owners, facility managers and built environment professionals real-time insights to strategize and optimize every aspect of a building’s operations. Importantly, the system becomes more robust over time with the addition of new data.

“Our goal is to deliver a new type of fan and visitor experience, and to do that, we need a comprehensive, data-driven view into how all the pieces of this project connect,” said Jason Gannon, managing director, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park. “For such a large-scale and complex asset like a stadium, this is a pivotal undertaking. Willow’s Digital Twin will enable us to collect and analyze real-time big data across the lifecycle of the development, from construction to ongoing operations.”

SoFi Stadium is setting a new bar for smart buildings in the sports and entertainment sector. Designed to be a sustainable, future-forward facility for years to come, the venue will be the new, joint home of the NFL’s Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams and will also host a variety of events throughout the year. Willow’s comprehensive solution, used by some of the world’s most prominent real estate owners, will enable SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park’s operators to gain complete transparency and a single source of truth on data from across the facility’s complex systems. By accessing this data, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park will be able to solve problems before they happen, manage risk and identify previously impossible integrated strategies.

“By accessing data that was once lost between project phases or in multiple systems, Willow can assist SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park in identifying opportunities they never knew they had,” said Shaun Klann, President and Global Head of Real Estate at Willow. “Stadiums are an amazing opportunity to apply the lessons we have learned in commercial real estate, but on a much larger scale. It’s an incredibly exciting project and we are honored to partner with the ambitious and innovative team at SoFi Stadium.”

At present, SoFi Stadium is slated to host Super Bowl LVI in 2022, the College Football Championship Game in 2023 and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2028 Summer Olympics. Located on the site of a former racetrack, the approximately 70,000-seat stadium will serve as the centerpiece of the state-of-the-art, reimagined Hollywood Park, featuring a full live-work-play experience, from retail, offices, hospitality, residential units and outdoor park spaces.

SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park was represented by Legends Global Partnerships division, which sourced, negotiated and represented SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park in securing this partnership.

Hollywood Park and Samsung Partner in Multi-Year Agreement Dedicated to Enhancing the Fan Experience

SoFi Stadium’s 70,000 Square-Foot Videoboard, Exclusively Built with Samsung LED Display Technology, is the Largest in Sports

Samsung has been named the Official Mobile, TV and Display partner of Hollywood Park, a 298-acre sports and entertainment destination, inclusive of SoFi Stadium and a 6,000-seat performance venue. Samsung’s outdoor LED products were exclusively used to build SoFi Stadium’s 70,000 square-foot dual-sided, center-hung videoboard. Moreover, the videoboard is the first and only 4K end-to-end video production in a stadium. The agreement showcases Samsung’s commitment to enhancing the fan experience at live events through technology.

“Samsung is a company built on foundation of excellence, which is also a cornerstone of the Hollywood Park experience. Our display technology in SoFi Stadium and throughout the entire space will offer fans a truly immersive and state-of-the-art experience,” said Harry Patz, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Display Division, Samsung Electronics America. “Los Angeles is a vibrant city with a rich history, filled with passionate fans. It is a great honor to be a part of creating the city’s next landmark.”

Built for the future, the videoboard has the largest LED content playback system ever deployed. With nearly 80 million pixels spaced 8 millimeters from center to center, each panel can be uniquely or congruently programmed with statistics, live and/or animated content. The largest panel is about 40 feet or four stories tall; its smallest panel is nearly 20 feet or two stories tall. Further, its unique size and shape make it wider than the field of play and offer fans a spectacular view from anywhere in the stadium, enhancing the action taking place on the field.

“Our partnership with Samsung is an industry game-changer and has allowed us to create a unique and one-of-a-kind product that will impact the way our industry thinks about live event content,” said Jason Gannon, managing director, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park. “With our Samsung videoboard, we continue to elevate the experience for fan entertainment on game days and across events.”

Built into the videoboard is a state-of-the-art audio system with more than 260 individual speakers embedded into its frame. With more than seven miles of loudspeaker cable wound throughout, it is equal to 1,500 home theater systems.

To offer fans and guests a consistently dynamic experience, Samsung is excited to work with Hollywood Park to enhance, improve and develop display technology to innovate and improve the guest experience for years to come. This cutting-edge technology will set a new standard for the fan experience, with SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park representing the future of sports and live entertainment.

“At Samsung, we are so proud of our partnership with Hollywood Park and excited to be a part of what will soon be a crown jewel for the city of Los Angeles,” says Mark Quiroz, Vice President of Marketing, Display Division, Samsung Electronics America. “From the unique use of display technology in the videoboard to the use of outdoor LED displays in the American Airlines Plaza, Samsung technology is changing the way fans experience game day.”

Beyond SoFi Stadium, Samsung’s LED display technology will be represented throughout Hollywood Park, reaching fans across the development’s residential, office and retail areas and through the Hollywood Park connected mobile app. Samsung Members will experience exclusive in-app features, including a dedicated Samsung Members section with benefits including exclusive content, offers and in-stadium discounts.

Google Cloud is named exclusive cloud partner, providing core technologies for Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Chargers, and new SoFi Stadium

YouTube named official video streaming sponsor of the Rams, Chargers, SoFi Stadium, and Hollywood Park

As fans eagerly await the return of NFL football, Google and Hollywood Park today announced a multi-year partnership for Google Cloud to power SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park’s digital innovation experiences—and YouTube to become the official video streaming sponsor of the Rams, Chargers, SoFi Stadium, and Hollywood Park, with more details to be announced later this year.

“Google is a world-class company, leading the way in technology,” said Jason Gannon, managing director, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park. “Their innovation and services are a critical component to deliver Stan Kroenke’s vision to create the ultimate sports and entertainment destination, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park.”

Google will drive both business operations and consumer experiences at the 298-acre sports and entertainment destination, which is being developed by Rams Owner/Chairman E. Stanley Kroenke. SoFi Stadium will host the Super Bowl in 2022, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Olympics in 2028, and many other marquee events. Google Cloud technology will help transform the site into a premier entertainment destination in several key ways:

  • A “personal concierge” app, powered by Google Cloud and built by Deloitte, will help fans discover SoFi Stadium events; wayfind within the stadium; locate parking; optimize transportation for game day (including up-to-the-minute Google Maps routing); provide digital credentials for building, club, and suite entry; and present personalized offers for tickets, food, shopping, and more.
  • Cloud-based media workflow and optimization will power the largest video board in sports. Working with Google Cloud engineers and using the latest in cloud technologies, Hollywood Park will be able to efficiently store digital content, as well as prep, transfer, and present groundbreaking video on game day.
  • Advanced data analytics will track business performance and enable Hollywood Park to offer unique and personal recommendations to fans and guests. Using Google Cloud products such as Cloud Scheduler, App Engine, Dataflow, BigQuery, and more, Hollywood Park will be able to store and analyze data from multiple sources; create operational dashboards with real-time data; track key performance indicators after events; and better forecast attendance, revenue by product, and other important business metrics.
  • Modern collaboration tools from Google Cloud’s G Suite software—including Gmail for business, Docs, Drive, Calendar, and Meet—will help Hollywood Park employees work faster and smarter, and meet safely and securely from anywhere.
  • In the future, Google and SoFi Stadium will explore media streaming and high-speed wireless solutions to enable visitors to get replays, unique angles, and exclusive 4K coverage on their mobile phones while attending events at SoFi Stadium. In addition, SoFi Stadium will have the world’s first 4K/HDR live production capabilities within a sports facility.

“It’s an incredible honor to work with SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park as they create an interactive, smart experience destination enjoyed by sports and entertainment fans, residents and shoppers alike,” said Rob Enslin, global president, Google Cloud. “This partnership shows the world what’s possible when you combine the power of data with the excitement of entertainment and sports, and we’re excited that Google Cloud will underpin the visitor experience.”

“We couldn’t have picked a better partner to manageour technology needs,” said Skarpi Hedinsson, chief technology officer, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park. “Incorporating Google’s solutions into critical areas of our business ensures we can usher in a new era of innovation in sports and entertainment, raising the bar on what the ultimate fan experience looks like globally.”

“A special thank you to our partner Legends, and their Global Partnerships group, which sourced, negotiated, and represented SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park in securing this comprehensive technology and marketing partnership. They continue to work as best-in-class partners to bring innovation and unique brand engagements,” said Gannon.

Butts, with a video message from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. NFL Network’s Steve Wyche served as master of ceremonies.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony not only kicks off SoFi Stadium’s first year, but also celebrates the hard work of the many thousands of people that brought this venue to life from the time it first broke ground in November 2016.

“We are in the team business, and you can’t get to a moment like today without a great team. I would like to thank the 17,000 people who have worked on this project over the past four years,” said Rams Owner/Chairman Stan Kroenke. “During a period of unrest and change in many parts of the country, it’s been our deepest privilege to work on a project this special with such a diverse workforce. Thank you for making our vision a reality.”

Located in the entertainment capital of the world, SoFi Stadium is the first football stadium to be built within Los Angeles in nearly 100 years. The state-of-the-art venue includes many firsts across industries, including in architecture, construction, engineering, technology and more. This structural marvel will usher in a new era of sports, entertainment, and football in Southern California.

“When you see our SoFi Stadium home and the ongoing development surrounding it, you have to marvel at Stan Kroenke’s vision,” said Los Angeles Chargers Owner and Chairman of the Board Dean Spanos. “This is an iconic project, anchored by an iconic stadium, that will not only redefine the City of Inglewood, it will redefine the landscape of greater Los Angeles for the next century and beyond. This has been a long time coming, and we cannot wait to usher in a new era of Chargers football on what will undoubtedly be the grandest stage in all of sports.”

SoFi Stadium can host approximately 70,000 fans, expandable up to 100,000 for special events. A stadium built to be fan-first, it has more than 260 suites, seven suite concepts, 12 club spaces, and more than 13,000 premium seats all designed to cater to convenience and extraordinary fan experiences. An all-digital venue, SoFi Stadium has 90,000 square feet of digital LED in the seating bowl alone, 70,000 of which makes up the largest videoboard in sports. A completely unique design, SoFi Stadium’s videoboard is the first of its kind and the only 4k end-to-end videoboard in sports.

In addition to 20 NFL home games a year, SoFi Stadium will host a variety of events throughout the year and is already the home of LA Bowl, Taylor Swift’s Lover Fest West in 2021, WrestleMania in 2021, Kenny Chesney’s Chillaxification Tour in 2021, Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard’s The Stadium Tour in 2021, Super Bowl LVI in 2022, the College Football National Championship game in 2023, and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2028 Olympic Games.

SoFi Stadium is the centerpiece of Hollywood Park, a near 300-acre sports and entertainment destination being developed by Kroenke. It is the largest mixed-use development under construction in the Western United States, and with more than 25 acres of public parks and open space, Hollywood Park is designed to be a true community gathering space for Inglewood, greater Los Angeles, and the world. Entirely privately funded, Hollywood Park, when complete, will offer up to 5 million square feet of creative office space, an exceptional 500,000-square-foot retail district, up to 3,000 residences, and a hotel.

Stanley Kroenke in Inglewood, Calif. Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor, and One For All are LA Bowl’s first community partners.

On Friday, July 10, LA Bowl in collaboration with Worldwide Produce is giving 300 boxes of fresh produce and dairy at the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor. LA Bowl is working alongside Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor to distribute the boxes from 4pm to 7pm. Boxes include potatoes, carrots, pre-cut romaine lettuce, apples, low fat milk, low fat yogurt, and unsalted butter. Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor helps families in San Pedro, Wilmington, Harbor City, and South Bay.

“Weekend Wellness Food Program is vital in providing enough food for our families from Friday evening through Sunday. This MUCH NEEDED ‘Weekend Wellness’ program will distribute non-perishable food items to families every weekend through the 2020-2021 fiscal year. The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor is excited to partner with LA Bowl to ensure that our youth have the resources they need.” Mike Lansing, CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor.

On Friday, July 17, LA Bowl will help distribute an additional 300 boxes of produce and dairy at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles from 3pm to 4:15pm. Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles aids families in Watts/Willowbrook, Bell Gardens and South Los Angeles, and Watts-area housing projects, including the Jordan Downs and Nickerson Gardens.

“We are immensely grateful for and excited about the year-long partnership with LA Bowl,” said Karen Pointer, Chair of the Board of Directors of Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Los Angeles. “At a time when food insecurity is a daily concern for families in our communities, LA Bowl’s generous support of our food distribution efforts enables us to continue to provide nutritious food to those families. Healthy food is an essential part of the Healthy Lifestyles Program that we incorporate in every aspect of our Club experience.”

With a commitment to enhancing and giving back to the community, LA Bowl is not only aiding local families and youth through food distribution, but also by promoting education. LA Bowl will donate scholarships to Inglewood-based nonprofit One For All. The organization provides scholarships and school supplies to underprivileged, college-bound students with stellar academic achievements. Each applicant is eligible for up to $500, provided they meet the requirements set forth by One For All. Scholarship recipients are announced in August and December of 2020.

“We are thrilled to partner with LA Bowl to expand our efforts and continue to aid students in reaching their educational goals,” said Mari Morales Rodriguez, founder of One For All. “As this year presents new challenges, we are dedicated – now more than ever – to providing resources to the youth in our community.”
