LA Giltinis Play in First Professional Rugby Match at SoFi Stadium

Team Plays May 15 at SoFi Stadium

A limited amount of tickets will be available for this historic event

LOS ANGELES (May 6, 2021) Today, the trailblazing LA Giltinis Rugby team announced a May 15 home game at SoFi Stadium that will be the first-ever chance for fans to experience rugby at the showpiece venue.

SoFi Stadium will make its Major League Rugby (MLR) debut with fans on May 15 when the LA Giltinis face the Utah Warriors at 7 p.m. This match is presented by Gilly’s Legendary Lager.

The opportunity to showcase MLR in the state-of-the-art stadium demonstrates the exponential growth and interest in Rugby in Southern California.

“We are thrilled to be part of history by providing fans of all sports with the opportunity to experience SoFi Stadium for one of the first times,” said Former Australian Wallabies player and Giltinis General Manager Adam Freier.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to showcase to the people of Los Angeles why Rugby is the third biggest sporting event in the world, and we have already seen huge interest here in Los Angeles, which many refer to as the sporting capital of the world.

“We look forward to welcoming guests to SoFi Stadium for our inaugural series of events,” said Jason Gannon, managing director, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park. “SoFi Stadium is slated to host a variety of world-class sporting events in the coming years, and we will continue to add dynamic events like Major League Rugby to our list.”

Los Angeles welcomed the Giltinis as the newest professional sports franchise to the City of Angels on March 20 where they began play at the iconic Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.  Due to a scheduling conflict, the May 15 match was moved from the Coliseum to SoFi Stadium.  The Coliseum will otherwise remain the Giltinis’ home stadium for the full 2021 season.

(New York, New York | Tuesday, April 27, 2021) -International advocacy organization Global Citizen has revealed additions to VAX LIVE: The Concert to Reunite the World, their live event on May 2 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The event will air and livestream on Saturday, May 8, 2021 on ABC, ABC News Live, CBS, YouTube, iHeartMedia broadcast radio stations and the iHeartRadio App,at8:00 PM ET/PT, 7:00 PM CT. The concert will also air on FOXat 11:00 PM ET/PT.

As the first large-scale music event for a COVID-compliant audience composed of fully-vaccinated frontline healthcare and essential workers, VAX LIVE calls for new commitments from governments, the private sector, and philanthropists toward the equitable distribution of COVID-19 vaccines worldwide.

Among today’s line-up additions:

  • Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, are serving as Campaign Chairs of VAX LIVE and will be delivering an important global message for vaccine equity during the event. To help ensure equitable access to the vaccine, they’ve also been leading a coordinated drive across the private sector to raise critical funds for the vaccine-sharing program COVAX.
  • Global Citizen is proud to announce a special appearance by President Biden, First Lady Dr Biden and Vice President Harris as part of Global Citizen’s partnership with the White House’s “We Can Do This” initiative to increase public confidence in COVID-19 vaccines while reinforcing basic prevention measures, such as mask wearing and social distancing. Additionally, President Macron of France, Prime Minister Trudeau of Canada, and Prime Minister Plenković of Croatia will make appearances.
  • Multi-platinum recording artist, actress and producer, Selena Gomez, as host, and musical headliners, Jennifer Lopez, Eddie Vedder, Foo Fighters, J Balvin, and H.E.R. will be joined by Ben Affleck, Chrissy Teigen, David Letterman, Gayle King, Jimmy Kimmel, Nomzamo Mbatha, Olivia Munn, and Sean Penn.
  • Cisco announced $5M, the Analog Devices Foundation announced $1M, and The Coca-Cola Foundation announced $500K to support COVAX. Cisco’s $5M contribution to the Gavi COVAX AMC will be matched by a Swiss Foundation who prefers to remain anonymous. These commitments, totaling $11.5 million, will fund the purchase of an estimated 2.3 million vaccine doses for health workers.
  • The Vax Live campaign is calling on businesses to donate dollars for doses via COVAX, wealthy governments to share excess doses immediately with COVAX, and for pharmaceutical companies like Moderna to make vaccines available at not-for-profit prices.

As part of VAX LIVE, Global Citizen is campaigning to support the Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator (ACT-A) initiative – including COVAX – a vaccine-sharing program co-led by the World Health Organization (WHO), to ensure global equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines. During the special, Global Citizen will call on governments asking them to pledge a total of $19 billion, the outstanding balance needed by the ACT-A to get 1.8 billion COVID-19 vaccine doses plus tests and treatments to the world’s poorest countries by the end of 2021. As part of the campaign, Spain announced the donation of an estimated 7.5 million vaccine doses as soon as 50% of the Spanish population is vaccinated. France announced starting the sharing of doses for health workers across Africa with an initial donation of 100,000 this month, and at least 500,000 by June.

“Over the past year, our world has experienced pain, loss, and struggle—together. Now we need to recover and heal—together. We can’t leave anybody behind. We will all benefit, we will all be safer, when everyone everywhere has equal access to the vaccine. We must pursue equitable vaccine distribution, and in that, restore faith in our common humanity. This mission couldn’t be more critical or important,” said Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Campaign Chairs of Vax Live.

“As part of the Vax Live campaign, the Government of Spain will facilitate to Latin America and the Caribbean a quantity of vaccines against COVID-19 that corresponds, at least, to between 5% and 10% of the total vaccines that our country receives throughout 2021. I am proud of my country and of the dedication of its people, including public representatives, for showing solidarity in responding to this crisis, that has been so brutal both in Spain and abroad,” said Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez.

“Last autumn, I called for the sharing of the doses ordered by our countries, to ensure both solidarity and health security. This winter I proposed that each country share at least 5% of the doses ordered with the poorest countries. I can already tell you that, as far as France is concerned, this objective will be exceeded by the end of the year. With the European vaccine sharing mechanism via the COVAX initiative that France is inaugurating, we are in concrete solidarity in the fight against the virus, which does not care about borders. Today I call on all my colleagues to join this momentum and make a commitment at Vax Live,” said President of France, Emmanuel Macron.

SoFi Stadium Teams With Award-winning Chefs Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo for its Culinary Program

SoFi Stadium to Begin Weekly Content Series Introducing Menu Staples, Starting April 22

LOS ANGELES – April 15, 2021 – Focused on representing the city’s prolific food culture, SoFi Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams, partnered with James Beard award-winning chefs, Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo to reimagine the stadium culinary experience. The duo, Los Angeles cult favorite chefs and owners of some of the most iconic restaurants in the city – including animal, Son of a Gun, Jon & Vinny’s, Carmelized Productions and Cookbook Market – created a groundbreaking food program as transformative as the stadium itself. 

“Jon and Vinny are well-known for their thoughtful and flavorful food, and we are thrilled for them to extend their legacy to SoFi Stadium,” said Jason Gannon, managing director, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park. “Los Angeles’ food culture is celebrated for its creativity, and our goal is to build a culinary experience for fans based on high-quality, fresh ingredients and inspired by the many cuisines you can find throughout the city.”

SoFi Stadium’s culinary program is based on four core concepts. Each is grounded in local flavors and features creative combinations. Starting April 22, 2021, SoFi Stadium will release a video each week announcing a concept and delving into its inspiration and ingredients. Shaped from the diverse cuisines of the region, SoFi Stadium’s menus will feature high-quality ingredients paired with top-notch preparation, expertly scaled for a stadium of discerning foodie fans. Building on their expert knowledge of the LA food scene, Jon and Vinny spent months of research and hundreds of hours in development at their test kitchen in Inglewood to create unique expressions of timeless stadium favorites, but with local flair. 

“The opening of SoFi Stadium is a monumental and historical moment for the city of Inglewood, City of Champions,” said Jon and Vinny. “We are super excited to be part of the LA Eats program at SoFi Stadium. The stadium, along with Legends, has made it incredibly easy for us to transform how people think about stadium food.”

SoFi Stadium’s state-of-the-art amenities and indoor-outdoor design will be incorporated into the presentation of its innovative food program to create a memorable experience. The stadium’s kitchens offer open-air spaces with breathtaking views of the city. Their expansive design features clear glass, with each kitchen placed in a location that always has sightlines to the field, videoboard or seating bowl. Fans will now be able to leave their seats for food and drink and not worry about missing the big play. 

The clear glass in SoFi Stadium’s kitchens allows food to be prepared in front of guest’s eyes. In a first for stadium design, SoFi Stadium features 100 percent live-fire kitchens. This allows for the stadium to produce food in each and every one of its kitchens. 

The culinary program was created in partnership with Legends, which will operate the stadium’s culinary program under the direction of Legends Executive Chef Robert Biebrich and Legends Vice President of Culinary Innovation Gretchen Beaumarchais.

To achieve global vaccine access and confidence, VAX LIVE: The Concert to Reunite the World aims to:

●        Call on philanthropists and corporations to donate enough “dollars-for-doses” to help vaccinate the more than 27 million heroic health workers, that are on the front lines, in the poorest countries that need access to vaccines most;

●        Call on governments, corporations and philanthropists to invest an additional $22.1 billion to get two billion vaccine doses and other medical tools to the poorest countries;

●        Disseminate financial commitments to regional responders supporting health, education, hunger, equity and climate efforts;

●        Encourage pharmaceutical companies to commit to selling COVID-19 vaccines at a production price – earning profits at the expense of human lives will impede progress; and 

●        Build vaccine confidence by educating and empowering audiences to get answers to their top questions about the COVID-19 vaccines.

VAX LIVE: The Concert to Reunite the World is hosted by the State of California, and supported by the LA County Health Department, the City of Los Angeles, the City of Inglewood,and E. The Hollywood Park vaccination site, which has been designated to serve public and private school teachers, administrators and Los Angeles County staff, leverages technology and data systems to register individuals, schedule vaccination appointments and share the data with appropriate local health authorities. A collaboration between Los Angeles Unified, the Los Angeles Rams and Hollywood Park, the vaccination site serves as another critical step to keep citizens safe and healthy in the fight against COVID-19.

Los Angeles Unified Teams Up with the Los Angeles Rams and Hollywood Park to Offer Vaccination Site For All School Staff in Los Angeles County

·       Seeks County Approval to Begin Operating as Soon as Possible

·       Coordinated Vaccination of School Staff Would Accelerate Reopening of Schools

·       Inglewood Site Would Have Capacity to Vaccinate up to 10,000+ People a Day

LOS ANGELES (February 17, 2021) – Los Angeles Unified today announced a collaboration with the Los Angeles Rams, Hollywood Park and the City of Inglewood to operate a large-scale vaccination site on the grounds of SoFi Stadium which could serve any of the public and private school teachers, administrators and staff in Los Angeles County from schools that wish to participate.

Los Angeles Unified plans to work closely with Los Angeles County on this program. On February 15, Los Angeles Unified and its partners, including Anthem Blue Cross and Cedars-Sinai, sent a letter to County Department of Public Health Director Dr. Barbara Ferrer and Los Angeles County Office of Education Superintendent Dr. Debra Duardo seeking authorization to operate the site and help the more than 1 million students and tens of thousands of teachers and staff in Los Angeles County return to school safely.

“Returning students, teachers and staff to campus in the safest way possible is essential to the well-being of our entire community,” said Los Angeles Unified Superintendent Austin Beutner. “A bus driver takes students to school, a principal unlocks the front door, a teacher leads in the classroom, a cafeteria worker prepares lunch and a custodian keeps the school clean – they’re all connected at school. A dedicated vaccination site and comprehensive effort for the education community would allow schools to re-open sooner and in a more coordinated manner.”

“In speaking with Superintendent Beutner and Inglewood Mayor Butts about how we can best support our community during this time, it became clear that assisting schools to reopen safely would have wide-ranging impacts for all Angelenos,” said Los Angeles Rams COO Kevin Demoff. “We are grateful to all our partners who have come together to develop a game plan that would allow us to operate this vaccination site at Hollywood Park safely and efficiently and serve educators all across the county.”

“We have seen a need within our community, and we are working alongside Los Angeles Unified and its partners to provide a solution,” said Jason Gannon, managing director, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park. “We are proud to offer the space and infrastructure needed for a mass vaccination site for school staff. This is another critical step to keep Angelenos safe and healthy in our fight against COVID-19.”

Inglewood Mayor James T. Butts has committed to seek the support of the County Board of Supervisors for this effort to protect school staff and bring the children of Inglewood and Los Angeles County back to the classroom.

In accordance with its plan, 600 Los Angeles Unified school nurses and other licensed healthcare professionals would administer the vaccine and assist those who may have an adverse reaction. In addition, Anthem would provide volunteer clinical personnel to supplement the Los Angeles Unified staff and Cedars-Sinai is already providing training to support this vaccination effort. The Hollywood Park site, when fully operational, would be able to vaccinate more than 10,000 people a day.

The operation would use a technology and data system that can register individuals, schedule vaccination appointments and share the data with appropriate authorities.

“The fact is that schools never closed for thousands of frontline education workers who have been sanitizing schools, preparing meals and running COVID-19 testing centers,” said Max Arias, SEIU Local 99 Executive Director. “Many of these essential school workers are people of color who have been hardest hit by the pandemic. The opening of this vaccination site would mark a major step forward to protect our most vulnerable communities and begin the process for an eventual safe return to in-person classes.”

Los Angeles to Host Super Bowl LVI in February 2022 at SoFi Stadium

Super Bowl Host Committee Unveils Logo & Plan to Showcase the Region

LOS ANGELES (February 9, 2021)— In one year, Los Angeles will welcome the Super Bowl to the region for the first time in nearly three decades. Super Bowl LVI will take place at SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park in Inglewood in February 2022.

Los Angeles hosted the first Super Bowl in 1967 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, and the last time the game was played in Los Angeles was in 1993 at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, CA. 

Today, the Los Angeles Super Bowl Host Committee, led by Chairman Casey Wasserman, unveiled the official Los Angeles Super Bowl Host Committee logo and launch video, featuring Los Angeles icon, Snoop Dogg, alongside the NFL’s trademark Super Bowl LVI mark. All eyes will be on the greater Los Angeles region and the transformative SoFi Stadium, as NBC will televise professional sports’ most popular and watched game that will be broadcast to more than 180 countries and territories. 

Wasserman unveiled the Los Angeles Host Committee’s logo, inspired by the iconic SoFi Stadium building design, and the campaign tagline “Champions Shine Here,” as a way to spotlight the spirited, authentic, and inclusive community that Los Angeles represents and kick off the decade of major events coming to the region starting with Super Bowl LVI in 2022.

To commemorate National Voter Registration Day, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park, Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams today announced that a Vote Center location will be established on the grounds of SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA. The announcement was made jointly with the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk and the California Secretary of State’s office.

SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park’s Vote Center will be located adjacent to the stadium and open for a five-day period from Friday, October 30 – Monday, November 2 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Tuesday, November 3 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.  All LA County registered voters are eligible to vote at SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park’s Vote Center.

“This is a touchdown for democracy! Partnering with SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park, the Los Angeles Chargers, and the Los Angeles Rams to host a vote center in such a large, visible location demonstrates the spirit of community and a shared commitment to make sure all voters have access to cast a ballot in 2020,” said Dean C. Logan, Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Los Angeles County.

  • Parking is available in Lot N, with ADA parking in Lot adjacent to construction trailers
  • The Vote Center will be in the NFL Trailer

SoFi Stadium’s Vote Center will follow State and County public health and safety guidelines:

  • All election workers at the Vote Center will wear facial coverings, gloves, and wipe down surfaces and devices on a regular basis
  • Voting stations will be wiped down after each voter
  • Voters who vote in-person will be required to wear a facial covering, and if needed, facial coverings and gloves will be provided
  • Vote Center will practice social distancing
  • Vote Center will be cleaned and sanitized nightly
  • LA County residents who are not registered to vote, can go to the Vote Center to register to vote and cast a ballot via a conditional voter registration

Hollywood Park and Samsung Partner in Multi-Year Agreement Dedicated to Enhancing the Fan Experience

SoFi Stadium’s 70,000 Square-Foot Videoboard, Exclusively Built with Samsung LED Display Technology, is the Largest in Sports  

Samsung has been named the Official Mobile, TV and Display partner of Hollywood Park, a 298-acre sports and entertainment destination, inclusive of SoFi Stadium and a 6,000-seat performance venue. Samsung’s outdoor LED products were exclusively used to build SoFi Stadium’s 70,000 square-foot dual-sided, center-hung videoboard. Moreover, the videoboard is the first and only 4K end-to-end video production in a stadium. The agreement showcases Samsung’s commitment to enhancing the fan experience at live events through technology.

Built for the future, the videoboard has the largest LED content playback system ever deployed. With nearly 80 million pixels spaced 8 millimeters from center to center, each panel can be uniquely or congruently programmed with statistics, live and/or animated content. The largest panel is about 40 feet or four stories tall; its smallest panel is nearly 20 feet or two stories tall. Further, its unique size and shape make it wider than the field of play and offer fans a spectacular view from anywhere in the stadium, enhancing the action taking place on the field.

Built into the videoboard is a state-of-the-art audio system with more than 260 individual speakers embedded into its frame. With more than seven miles of loudspeaker cable wound throughout, it is equal to 1,500 home theater systems.

To offer fans and guests a consistently dynamic experience, Samsung is excited to work with Hollywood Park to enhance, improve and develop display technology to innovate and improve the guest experience for years to come. This cutting-edge technology will set a new standard for the fan experience, with SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park representing the future of sports and live entertainment.
