Cosm Unveils Plans To Develop Its First-Ever Public Venue In Hollywood Park

Leading Technology Company Brings the Future of Immersive Experiences Directly to Consumers

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (August 17, 2022) Hollywood Park, the largest urban mixed-use mega development under construction in the Western United States, announces a new signed tenant, Cosm, a global leader in experiential media and immersive technology, which will introduce its first public venue in Hollywood Park. The forthcoming location will be the first venue of its kind to bring entertainment to life by utilizing Cosm’s revolutionary domed and compound curved LED technology. Guests will be able to directly experience immersive content through the company’s proprietary, best-in-class technology that seamlessly bridges the gap between virtual and physical realities.

As part of Hollywood Park’s retail district, the venue will showcase a 26.6-meter diameter LED dome in a 65,000 total square feet facility that can hold up to 1,700 guests. Programming at the venue will include live sports and entertainment, experiential events and content, immersive art, music, and more.

“We look forward to Hollywood Park being the home of Cosm’s first venue. Their modern venue design and immersive LED technology will create a one-of-a-kind entertainment offering for our guests and our community,” said Jason Gannon, managing director, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park. “Integrating dynamic companies like Cosm into Hollywood Park’s retail space furthers our goal to create a tenant mix that is not only unique to Hollywood Park, but also delivers extraordinary experiences for our community.”

With 75 years of experience in immersive entertainment, Cosm’s vision for its first public venue stems from its pioneering experience and innovation in dome design, pixel management, 3D and real-time rendering, and high-resolution live video workflows for planetariums and amusement parks around the world.

“We’re redefining the way the world experiences content and up-leveling fandom by opening our first Cosm venue in the center of the entertainment capital of the world,” said Jeb Terry, Cosm’s CEO and President. “For decades, we’ve powered some of the most iconic and entertaining experiences for our partners around the globe. Now, we’re powering our own. Cosm isn’t just a place, it’s a feeling. It’s the energy of the crowd, the exhilaration of sitting courtside at the biggest sporting events, the thrill of standing front row at your dream concert, the intensity of being enveloped in immersive environments that you have to experience to believe. Cosm is bringing that to life – first in Los Angeles, then around the world.”

“Cosm is providing an immersive and interactive canvas for partners and creators to showcase new and existing content in a way the world has never seen,” continued Devin Poolman, Cosm’s Chief Product and Technology Officer. “From our live 8K immersive production to real-time technology that leverages gaming engines like Unreal, to the architectural and interior designs and engineered build of our physical venues, our vertically integrated platform seamlessly intersects the digital and physical worlds. Cosm is a portal that can transport you anywhere, anytime, real or imagined, and it is completely reinventing entertainment as we know it.”

Construction for Cosm’s Los Angeles venue, designed by HKS, will begin in the fall of 2022.

Hollywood Park will become a city within a city with its recreational outdoor parks as its social heart. When complete, Hollywood Park will include up to five million square feet of creative office space, an exceptional retail district reaching up to 890,000 square feet, a 300-room hotel, and up to 2,500 sophisticated new residences. The expansive outdoor-oriented districts will border a six-acre artificial lake while being interlaced with 25 acres of tree-lined public parks and open space.

Hollywood Park Unveils New Installment of Los Angeles Inspired Murals by Renowned Local Artists

The Emerging Entertainment Destination adds to Art Program with Three New Murals from Marco Zamora, Alex Becerra, and Alfonso Gonzalez Jr., that Showcase Los Angeles Lifestyle and Draw Inspiration from Inglewood Community

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (July 20, 2022)Hollywood Park, the largest urban mixed-use mega development under construction in the Western United States, unveiled the second installment  of murals in its art program. The new work includes murals by Los Angeles-based artists Marco Zamora, Alex Becerra and Alfonso Gonzalez Jr. who each created a piece that was inspired by the surrounding Los Angeles cityscape and its people.

Originally debuted in January 2022, the Hollywood Park art program provides cultural enrichment and connectivity for the local community through various works and methods of art. Already on display in Hollywood Park’s retail space are murals by three distinctive Los Angeles-based artists – Calida Rawles, Geoff McFetridge, and Eve Fowler. The program also stretches across SoFi Stadium and YouTube Theater and includes installed works by Ned Kahn, Sandeep Mukherjee, and Bhavna Mehta, as well as temporary installations such as the Kinsey African American Art and History Collection.  Forthcoming in the retail area are two bronze sculptures by Alison Saar.

“We are continuing to deliver on our commitment to highlight local and international artists as part of our Hollywood Park art program,” said Jason Gannon, managing director, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park. “The program will only continue to grow, and we are thrilled to add incredible murals by local artists Alex Becerra, Alfonso Gonzalez, Jr. and Marco Zamora to Hollywood Park.”

The program is curated by Tiffiny Lendrum in consultation with Hollywood Park, the Inglewood Arts Commission and Wilson Meany.

“The murals support the vision of bringing together  local communities through music, arts and culture, sporting events, and entertainment conceived by real estate developer and Los Angeles Rams Owner/Chairman, E. Stanley Kroenke,” said Chris Meany of Wilson Meany, development manager of Hollywood Park. “This continuous partnership is a testament to Hollywood Park’s  longstanding commitment to introduce creative programming and cultural elements into this  vibrant mixed-use destination.”

Hollywood Park’s art program is part of a larger initiative to better establish and activate its public spaces by celebrating the multicultural experience that is woven into the fabric of Los Angeles living. By partnering with artists from different backgrounds, Hollywood Park offers future guests a cultural connection unmatched in current developments in the city.

Hollywood Park’s second installment features the following artists:

Marco Zamora

True to the artist’s passion for urban culture and the chaos of city life, Zamora’s bright-toned mural situated on Building 100, reflects elements of human connectivity inspired by the local neighborhoods of Inglewood. The kindred display is a result of Zamora’s unique artistic process, which begins by constructing an environment from photographs, later conceptualized and drawn by paintbrush. “I wanted to create art that emulates the life of a true Los Angeles resident,” says Zamora. “There is a unique time and rich history of life in Los Angeles, which is my intent to capture as a way to remind people of those who call or have once called this beautiful city their home.” Zamora’s intricate method of observation and photography techniques create a poetic play of recurring elements, such as objects appearing and reappearing, abstracted fields of color, representational spaces and patterned realms. This technique creates a beautiful and complex juxtaposition between humankind and the urban landscape.

Alex Becerra

Conveniently featured alongside Century Boulevard, Becerra’s artistic murals will come to life with an infusion of energy, color, and imaginative sound that hovers across the Inglewood landmarks. Largely inspired by the Los Angeles jazz scene and artists who shaped a new era in music, the art nods to those musicians who broke the barriers of racism and segregation during the 1950’s decade. Blue skies, palm tree lined streets, and lowrider culture is depicted in Becerra’s second mural, expressing his all too familiar connection and adoration with the city he grew up in.

“The memories I held unto as I observed music and culture throughout the years inspired me to create this reflective piece of art for the community,” says Becerra. “My hope is to invoke a sense of inspiration and inclusivity in which doing so can shape someone’s future in a powerful way.”

His thoughtful compositions incorporate all classical types of painting from self-portraiture to still life and genre scenes, dotted with recurring context specific objects like beer bottles and car rims. These symbols carry personal significance relating to his adolescence in Southern California and subsequent entrance into the international art world. In this way, Becerra’s highly referential work bears a distinct aesthetic and energetic vibrancy unique to the artist.

Alfonso Gonzalez, Jr.

Drawing inspiration from the cityscape and public parks of Los Angeles, Gonzalez Jr.’s work embodies the diversity of Angelenos and celebrates the shared culture found in Los Angeles. Highlighted by the word “Unidos,” which means united in Spanish, the mural’s theme of unity is passionately on display with the inclusion of a Mexican accordion musician. Historically, the accordion was an instrument used in regional Mexican concerts, and here it is meant to depict how something new is born when we come together and unite around a common interest. Similarly, the mural also depicts the innocence of two young children playing in the park amongst the Los Angeles skyline, meant to represent a hopeful sight against  the division often depicted in today’s media.

His paintings draw inspiration from the permanence of hand-painted signage and the physical weathering remnants of Los Angeles to narrate his own familial histories of labor and image making. The use of  multi-media textured pieces reflects the layers of the city he grew up in.

The first phase of Hollywood Park’s retail district will total 500,000 square feet, with 320,000 square feet currently under construction and scheduled to open in early 2023. Starting next year, Hollywood Park will bring local businesses and big-name international brands stretching across multiple blocks and walkable courtyards. Hollywood Park’s newest tenants will feature concepts including Grilled Fraiche led by South Los Angeles’ Peace Love Reedburg, a second location for family-owned Inglewood-based juice bar Antojitos Martin, and a second Inglewood location for Residency Art Gallery, a platform for artists of color. These new retailers will be joined by Three Weavers GRDN, the latest venture from Lynne Weaver, founder of Inglewood’s Three Weavers Brewing Company, Long Beach’s Iconix Fitness and Red Bay Coffee by Keba Konte, a renowned artist and successful food entrepreneur with deep roots in the San Francisco Bay.

Hollywood Park will become a city within a city with its recreational outdoor plaza as its social heart.

The Kinsey African American Art and History Collection Set To Partner With Inglewood-Based Residency Art Gallery On Contemporary Exhibit Titled “Continuum”

The Exhibition Serves As An Addition To The Current Kinsey Collection At SoFi Stadium.

Brought to Greater Los Angeles by the Kroenke Family Foundation, The Kinsey Collection Is Now Extended Through March 2023 in Partnership with JPMorgan Chase.

Inglewood, CA (July 18, 2022) – Hollywood Park and SoFi Stadium announced today the extension of The Kinsey African American Art and History Collection exhibition through March 2023, enhanced by additional new art and historical objects from the renowned collection. As part of the extension, The Kinsey Collection announced its partnership with Inglewood-based Residency Art Gallery, to launch “Continuum,” a new exhibition featuring Inglewood and greater Los Angeles-based contemporary artists. The first of its kind arts and culture initiative is brought to SoFi Stadium by the Kroenke Family Foundation, The Bernard and Shirley Kinsey Foundation for Arts and Education, and the Hollywood Park Foundation in partnership with JPMorgan Chase.

Continuum, curated by Khalil Kinsey (Chief Curator, The Kinsey Collection) and Rick Garzon (Founder/Director, Residency Art Gallery), aims to contextualize individuals’ experiences and progression within the scope of history, collective consciousness, and community uplift. The group show will focus on new works from over twenty artists of color and will be displayed on the second level mezzanine of SoFi Stadium in conjunction with the Kinsey Collection. Participating artists include Genevieve Gaignard, Patrick Martinez, Jaimie Milner, Lyndon Barrois Sr, Texas Isaiah, Samuel Levi Jones, Yasmine Nasser Diaz and more. Continuum will open to the public beginning this August as part of SoFi Stadium’s tour program, with extended hours allowing for even more accessibility to the local community.

“We are proud to work alongside Rick and Residency Art Gallery, JP Morgan Chase, and the Kroenke Family Foundation to highlight some of the incredible artists that are making significant contributions to arts and culture. Understanding our history and seeing our own reflections in art inspires and empowers us all and is critical to our shared experience and progress. Displaying the exhibition in Inglewood is extremely important to us because it invites the community to connect with their own stories of strength, brilliance and beauty,” said the Kinsey family.

A key component of the Kinsey Collection exhibition has been its dynamic community engagement initiative, working with Inglewood and Los Angeles area schools, as well as local non-profit organizations. The various educational programs include field trips, school visits, art education, teacher workshops, guest lectures and more. Since opening in February, the exhibit has welcomed nearly 4,000 students and over 12,000 guests connecting the South Los Angeles community through educational programs and workshops.

“Inglewood has a rich cultural history and once again it is fast becoming one of the most influential communities in America. We are honored to support making the Kinsey Collection accessible to the surrounding communities of this iconic location. It’s vital that we tell the stories represented in this wonderful collection and support our community’s education efforts by connecting our country’s history with its future,” said, Rick Barragan, managing director and market director for Los Angeles, J.P. Morgan Private Bank.

The collection benefits the new Hollywood Park Foundation, a nonprofit organization that launched at the opening of the Kinsey African American Art and History Collection in February. The foundation develops and supports youth programs focused on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) education, and health and wellness. The Hollywood Park Foundation assists local youth with education resources, healthy eating information, safe spaces for physical play, as well as other education, and health and wellness initiatives geared towards supporting youth.

“We welcome JPMorgan Chase as the presenting partner of the award-winning Kinsey African American Art and History Collection at SoFi Stadium. With their generous support of the Kroenke Family Foundation and the Hollywood Park Foundation, we can extend this important exhibition with an enhanced experience from Residency Art Gallery to present Continuum and celebrate African American achievement,” said Jason Gannon, managing director, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park.

The Kinsey Collection is a temporary installation featured alongside Hollywood Park’s art program. The Hollywood Park art program provides cultural enrichment and connectivity for the local community through various works and methods of art. Already on display in Hollywood Park’s retail space, the largest urban mixed-use mega development under construction in the Western United States, are murals by three distinctive Los Angeles-based artists – Calida Rawles, Geoff McFetridge, and Eve Fowler, with more to be announced soon.  The program also stretches across SoFi Stadium and YouTube Theater and includes works by Ned Kahn, Sandeep Mukherjee, and Bhavna Mehta. Forthcoming in the retail area are two bronze sculptures by Alison Saar, and a second Inglewood location for Residency Art Gallery, scheduled to open in early 2023.

As a part of this extension, visitors will be able to tour the Kinsey Collection inside SoFi Stadium, plus experience the entire stadium, including field and team locker room access, excluding event days. For more information visit SofiStadium.com/Kinsey

Hollywood Park Extends Samsung Augmented Reality Experience, Dreamground, Through December

The Free AR Experience, Open to the Public in Lake Park, Lets Visitors Build an Immersive Digital World Around Whimsical Physical Structures Through Their Mobile Phone

LOS ANGELES – May 18, 2022 – Hollywood Park is extending Samsung’s AR experience, Dreamground, through December. The AR experience offers guests a physical and digital playground through a combination of whimsical physical structures, on-screen animation and custom AR functionality.

Dreamground at Hollywood Park is free and spread throughout Lake Park. Guests can explore three immersive worlds: Bubbloonland, Fluttering Forest and Crystal Galaxy, which are all enhanced by corresponding sculptures throughout Lake Park. Users exploring Dreamground can add their own virtual elements to the sculptures and surrounding landscape by using their smartphone to place and create interactive elements on any surface in Dreamground. Users can even draw midair to make custom floating creations.

Elements created in Dreamground last for up to 24-hours, so users can see what others have created before them, collaborate with friends in real-time, as well as leave something behind for others to see. This allows each experience in Dreamground to be unique and build upon other Dreamground visitors’ creations. Dreamground also features interactive face filters and allows users to share their unique content – photo or video – across social channels.

In addition to the onsite sculptures, Dreamground can also be accessed through SoFi Stadium’s 4K Infinity Screen by Samsung. Prior to select ticketed events, guests will view a Dreamground video on the Infinity Screen that features a QR code that once scanned allows them access to Dreamground inside the stadium. Built for the future, the Infinity Screen by Samsung has the largest LED content playback system ever deployed. With nearly 80 million pixels spaced 8 millimeters from center to center, each panel can be uniquely or congruently programmed with statistics, live and/or animated content.

Dreamground also features content exclusives for Galaxy 5G device holders on Verizon. These users will have access to Galaxy G5 Portals throughout Dreamground that feature 4K, 360-streamed video and ultra-high fidelity AR. The ability to explore and interact in high resolution and in real-time showcases the power of the high bandwidth and low latency of 5G.

The Dreamground AR experience is available to both Android and iOS users. Visit Google Play store to download the Android version of Dreamground created by Samsung, or visit www.samsung.com/dreamground for more information.

LOS ANGELES (April 22, 2022) —SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park, a near 300-acre sports and entertainment destination being developed by Los Angeles Rams Owner/Chairman E. Stanley Kroenke,  worked with Studio MLA, a landscape architecture and urban design studio, to create civic and environmentally conscious landscape solutions across three key areas: water capture and reuse, the utilization of 100 percent Southern California-native plant species, and the continued development of public parks for year-round use.

SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park’s focus on sustainable landscape solutions and water conservation led to the creation of Lake Park, which functions as open recreational space for the community and a novel water recycling system. Inspired by the original water feature that was part of the former Hollywood Park racetrack, Lake Park consists of an upper and lower lake separated by cascading waterfalls. At approximately 6 acres and 16 million gallons of water, the lake is surrounded by an additional 6 acres of parkland. The lake functions as a water recycling system by collecting 70-80 percent of stormwater runoff from around the site, filtering it through natural wetlands and mechanical systems, and then using it to irrigate the surrounding parkland.

SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park worked with the West Basin Municipal Water District to provide recycled water for the rest of the project’s landscaped areas. Through its relationship with the West Basin Municipal Water District, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park are able utilize about 26 million gallons of recycled water per year, which saves an equal amount of drinking water for the region.

“SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park were designed to take advantage of Los Angeles’ indoor-outdoor lifestyle,” said Jason Gannon, managing director, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park. “Sustainable, environmentally conscious spaces are not just a benefit for our community and guests to enjoy, they are also one of the key ways we reduce our environmental impact.”

As the first indoor-outdoor stadium, SoFi Stadium was designed to take advantage of the unique environment Los Angeles provides. The stadium’s landscape architecture seamlessly merges with the surrounding Hollywood Park to emanate a design style that is true to Southern California’s landforms and natural aesthetic. Among the many notable features of the landscape design at the stadium are three terraced gardens or “canyons” that sit on the north, west, and east side of the building. Each of the canyon’s landscape draws from a particular biogeographic zone in California. For example, where sunlight is more present in the north canyon, a desert garden is featured. In the shadier east canyon, vegetation mirrors upper and lower montane areas of the state. In the west-facing canyon, the plants reflect low-elevation chaparral and riparian ecosystems.

“It’s all about how a stadium becomes part of a landscape and the landscape becomes part of the stadium,” said Mia Lehrer, FASLA, President of Studio-MLA. “With a pioneering project team, we’re honored to help imagine, design, and build this extensive stadium landscape, Lake Park and Hollywood Park’s public spaces, validating how this revolutionary sports stadium brings fans together on game days and functions as a vital public open space for people year-round.”

Additionally, the site’s over 5,000 trees and many species of plants are all native to Southern California and represent the five main ecologies that make up the mediterranean biome that Southern California inhabits. By purposefully selecting plants and trees that are native to the region, it promotes the regeneration of habitats that were previously missing in the area and encourages the return of native wildlife such as warblers, honeybees and more. The landscape design is not only striking, but it also simultaneously makes a significant contribution to the environment with close to 240,000 pounds of CO2 sequestered per yearby the thousands of trees on site.

SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park sits at the intersection of where design meets function. The site functions as a sports and entertainment destination and will be complemented by robust retail, residential and office offerings. However, it also serves as a civic center for its surrounding community. When Hollywood Park is complete, the site will deliver 25 acres of public parks and open space for the community to enjoy and utilize year-round.

The LA Galaxy and Chivas will meet for the first time in 15 years. In the previous three matches, Galaxy won in a 1999 friendly at the Rose Bowl and in penalty kicks at the Concacaf Cup of Champions in 1997 in Chicago. In their last match 15 years ago, Chivas defeated the Galaxy 2-1 in the LA Memorial Coliseum during SuperLiga 2007. Current LA Galaxy star Javier “Chicharito” Hernández began his career with Chivas, and this match up would be the first time Hernández would face his former club since 2010.

The matchup between LAFC and Club América will be only the second time they meet, and the first since LAFC eliminated the LIGA MX club from the 2020 Concacaf Champions League semifinals.

“The LA Galaxy are excited to be part of a historic event in Los Angeles as four of the biggest clubs in MLS and Liga MX face off against one another in the first-ever soccer event at SoFi Stadium,” said LA Galaxy President Chris Klein. “There’s a great history of big soccer matches being played in the United States and in Los Angeles, dating back to the 1994 World Cup, the 1999 Women’s World Cup, and all of the big games that the LA Galaxy has been a part of, so having the opportunity to play against a storied franchise in Liga MX is an honor that we are looking forward to. We believe this will be a great spectacle for fans of the sport in LA, and we are thrilled to represent our city against Chivas Guadalajara in this showcase.”

“I’m very happy that Chivas will play in that wonderful stadium. In Los Angeles, we feel at home; it is a rojiblanca city, and that the team can meet its fans in the home of the NFL Champions, it is great news,” said Amaury Vergara, President, Grupo Omnilife – Chivas. “It’s a great stadium, with a great rival and the best fans… What more can we ask for? I’m sure it will be a party.”

“We look forward to participating in this historic doubleheader at SoFi Stadium and rekindling our rivalry with Club America,” LAFC Co-President and CBO Larry Freedman said. “Los Angeles is showing, yet again, why it is one of the top sports cities in the world, and it is an honor for our Club to have the opportunity to compete in this showcase.”

“This will be another historic day for soccer in Southern California,” LAFC Co-President & General Manager John Thorrington said. “Facing off once again against Club America in the first soccer event at SoFi Stadium is another major moment for our Club.”

“We’re very excited of having the opportunity to connect, once again, with our amazing fan base in California. This match against LAFC represents the first time, in recent years, to face a local team in Los Angeles, so we’re pretty sure that it will be a vibrant game, which will be played in a magnificent stadium, and that all the americanistas are going to truly enjoy,” said Santiago Baños, President of Club América.

“SoFi Stadium was designed to host a variety of events, and we are thrilled to welcome the Leagues Cup Showcase as our first soccer match at SoFi Stadium,” said Jason Gannon, managing director, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park. “We look forward to bringing Liga MX, MLS, and soccer fans from around the world together on August 3 to watch this historic double-header. This will mark the first of many memorable soccer matches at SoFi Stadium.”

In addition, clubs finishing second and third in Leagues Cup starting in 2023 will qualify for the Opening Round of the CCL.

MLS and LIGA MX – which entered a partnership in 2018 rooted in the on-field rivalry as well as the true spirit of collaboration off the field – will pause their respective seasons for one month during the 2023 summer to play Leagues Cup, showcasing the soccer infrastructure and capabilities in the region in the years leading into the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the U.S., Canada and Mexico — the first World Cup to feature 48 countries.

SoFi Stadium Receives Certification for Event Sustainability Management

LOS ANGELES (February 11, 2022) – SoFi Stadium, the home of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers, has been awarded ISO 20121:2012 Event Sustainability Management System certification, becoming the second NFL venue to achieve such certification. Originally designed for the London 2012 Olympic Games, the ISO 20121:2012 standard provides a roadmap for organizations to address the environmental, economic, and social impacts of their events. The standard is designed to highlight the process in which data is tracked, obstacles identified, and issues addressed to continually improve sustainability over time.

“ISO certification creates a solid foundation for SoFi Stadium as we continue to develop programs and policies that reduce our environmental impact,” said Jason Gannon, Managing Director, SoFi Stadium and Hollywood Park. “This ISO achievement builds on our commitment to sustainable operations across Hollywood Park, including SoFi Stadium, YouTube Theater and American Airlines Plaza.”

ISO 20121:2012 certification is a voluntary international standard that specifies requirements for an event sustainability management system and provides guidance to conforming to those requirements. A fundamental piece of the standard is a timeline set forth for continued improvement.  The standard is then implemented, monitored, and checked for noncompliance, then adjusted to address those issues to achieve increased standards of success.

Honeycomb Strategies, a woman-owned sustainability consulting firm specializing in the sport and event industry, has been instrumental in developing the strategy and compliance with ISO framework for SoFi Stadium.

“Since SoFi Stadium’s official opening, Honeycomb Strategies has supported the team in the development and implementation of industry leading sustainability best-practices,” said Tim Trefzer, Program Manager for Honeycomb Strategies. “By engaging key stakeholders and focusing on material impacts, the SoFi Stadium program is both comprehensive and allows for continual improvement year after year.”

iCompli Sustainability is the non-profit international auditing organization that performed the third-party audit for SoFi Stadium’s certification of the ISO 20121:2012 standard.

Information regarding SoFi Stadium’s sustainability program can be found at https://www.sofistadium.com/sustainability/.
